About Us

The Essex Knitters and Stitchers were formed in 2015 and now have 15 groups and over 100 members. We enjoy making items and supporting Essex charities, promoting mutual support amongst our members.

We have a fun side and have taken part in yarn bombing (decorating trees & bollards) in Chelmsford city centre for the Chelmsford Festival and also decorating Farleigh Hospice with yellow flowers.

We have taken part in workshops with children in Maldon and Witham libraries.
All the groups are invited to meet twice a year for a Christmas Social and Summer Get-Together, which is always enjoyed very much.

We are a friendly group and always ready to welcome new members, whether you are already a competent knitter or sewer or want to learn a new skill - come and join in the fun, meet new people and all over a cuppa.

Norfolk Knitters and Stitchers has expanded so much because so many people help doing different things. Members come forward and volunteer to run groups, or help with the distribution of newsletters, or bring knitting in for a friend or local contact or suggest another charity we can support. Any ideas and suggestions are welcome.

We have expanded into a Suffolk organisation led by Susan Bowring and groups in Essex led by Wendy Morrissey.
