Welcome Rucksack Project
Dear members of the Norfolk Knitters and Stitchers. How can I begin to thank you all enough for your wonderful and generous contributions to the 'Welcome Rucksack Project'. The welcome rucksacks contained emergency cleaning items and toiletries for when each asylum seeker arrived in Norwich. Your handmade gifts of sponge bags, pencil cases, sewing kits, covered mugs, 'welcome' labels, first aid pouches, covered small/medium exercise books, knitted blankets, baby layettes and bags for the blankets to go in has made a huge difference.

The asylum seekers have very much appreciated these personal items and value them and feel so welcomed by them.

Thank you all so much. I do look forward to your continued support. We have around 70 asylum seekers arriving each year from around 11 countries and speaking up to 15 different languages. Their journeys have been very, very long, very hard and dangerous. What a welcome you have helped to give them.

Very best wishes

Thank you so much for your parcels of beautiful aid: your skill and generosity are much appreciated. Please do pass on our gratitude to the team.

Your gifts will go to Syrian and Iraqi refugee families in Athens.

Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust
Just a little email to thank you so much for taking the time to sew some bags for us. We really do appreciate it very much, and will ensure that they are well used.

One of your newsletters was also in the package, and it seems that between you, you do a lot of really amazing work. It’s good to see.

Thank you once again,

English+
We have had some feedback from our clients who received the Christmas Parcels that your team so generously contributed to. They are so grateful, as are English+ and STN Trust of the hard work, care and love that went into all the knitting and stitching. The food given through the foodbank for the Christmas parcels for those in Norwich seeking asylum, was put in your bags, and people are reusing them. People were really thrilled with the decorations, and the warm clothes, hats and gloves will come in useful in this cold snap.

Thank you all so much.

Kind regards
Sarah

St Andrews Special School
Thank you so much for the two big bags of presents you left us.

They were fabulous and very much appreciated.

All the muffs have been allocated to the children most in need of something to keep their hands occupied!

With many more asking if they could have one and that was before the cold weather hit us! Ha Ha

So we have a waiting list for them (so if you get anymore in?)

The Teddies are finding new and deserving homes. Comforting anxious children, Even one of the big year 10 boys has one on him at all times!

We are planning to use the pompoms to make a new rug, we think.

Please pass on our heartfelt thanks to all your kind members who have so tirelessly given up their time, energy and wool to knit for us.

We have made a thank card to send to you all, if you could just kindly send me your address I will get it in the post.

We also have some doll and toy knitting patterns for you (donated to the craft fair) if they would be of any use to any of your members?

We also seem to be stirring an interest in knitting with the children so I am going to try to teach them in craft club! Wish me luck!

Many Thanks

New Routes
What a marvellous amount of lovely warm stuff. Someone commented that they must have been knitting all year to make it all. Thank you all so much. It has all gone down a treat. (Jenny Coppard - ESOL Coordinator, New Routes )
