Norfolk Knitters is part of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme which is part of Volunteering Matters. This national organisation runs a variety of projects across the country with some paid workers but mainly a huge army of volunteers.
When Norfolk Knitters first began to grow they helped us in the process of applying for grants from different bodies to help pay for the cost of running the organisation. Now we have regular support from the RSVP accountant with the accounts. In 2010, three of us went to a National RSVP Conference where it was interesting to find out about other projects in different parts of the country. We received a certificate there for our work in Norfolk.
We were interviewed by the Times as part of their Christmas appeal in 2010 for RSVP. Recently we were awarded a grant of £1000 from RSVP to help continue our work. This has paid for display boards which are used on Open Days at the Wool Loft, can be taken to Knit and Natters and used when giving talks to different groups about our work.
Linda is now part of the Volunteering Matters RSVP Advisory Group and travels to London three times a year to help plan future action for the organisation.
